Leave it to our fave stylist, cat lover and professional creeper, Shirley Kurata to revive America’s most iconic dessert just in time for the holidays.
Although it's hard to leave the painted desert mountain dreamscape of Shirley's last project behind, her newest is plunging us back into childhood and beyond with just 4 letters: J-E-L-L-O. Yep. The ultra prismatic sweet treat is the wobbly three-tiered centerpiece in Nylon Magazine's Nowstalgia Issue. The fall fashion feature pairs Prada with parfaits, Mui Mui with molds, and Cartier and crème for an ultra funky dinner party we’re all invited to.
Aside from an occasional sighting at our grandparents' go-to dining establishments, Jello has been M.I.A. from our brain waves for a minute. Now we're braving the teeter-tottering Tupperware stacks in our cabinets and kitchen junk drawers in search of old molds and dinosaur-shaped cookie cutters (RE: Jell-O Jigglers).
The bold colors, the mod vibes, the chunks of fruit suspended in time and space - we can't resist bedazzling our Thanksgiving spread with one of these jewel-bright convo dishes. Everything else is for the birds. Cheers Shirley!
